Does this help improve computer security when buying online?

Ok i’ve been buying stuff online for well over 2.5 years or so. ive never had issues, never got my account information stolen or anything. I only visit reputable sites (yahoo, amazon, facebook, cnn, etc.) I have a pc with windows 7 and kaspersky internet security (all updated). when entering personal/banking info. on sites such as amazon, express, wal-mart etc would it be effective if used an onscreen keyboard during that. lets say i entered my credit card number using an on screen keyboard, can it be traced just as easy as my regular keyboard. (once again i never had security problems but am just curious)

An onscreen keyboard is somewhat more secure than a physical keyboard against some types of attacks: specifically, keystroke logging, and electromagnetic signal detection. But it will not protect you from phishing, packet snooping, DNS poisoning, and other kinds of attacks.

In general, if you’ve always kept your computer secure, you don’t have much to gain from using an on-screen keyboard. Unless your computer has been infected by a rootkit, or someone is tapping into your electrical wiring to try to read the signals from your keyboard, you’re probably just as well off using your regular keyboard.
